Marathi play written by vishnu vaman shirwadkar in 70s.Play is about stage actor who once remained superstar of Marathi theatre.The play was written in 70's . I only was recorded version of this play .I have not seen the original play . It was played many well known actors in marathi industry , i saw video version of the play in which prominent marathi actor shriram lagu played protagonist.
Play starts with monologue which resembles to be dialogue of old veteran marathi stage actor Mr.Belvalkar to his audience after getting life time achievement award .On that day he gets 40,00 rupees which in which 10K he donates for charity and rest divide n his son and his wife and daughter and her husband and apparently becomes empty.On the same day he gifts gold necklace and expresses his love to her.Mr.Belvalkar then starts living in his son's posh flat which he took from the money he got from his father.Further living with his son he has dispute with his daughter in law , she does not like his raw behavior with her daughter and asks her husband to scold him.Mr.Belvalkar and his wife mutually move out and stays with their daughter .While living in son in laws house he ask son in laws boss move out of the house which came to him to discuss theater and abuses his idols .later Mr.Belvalkar's daughter doubts him of stealing money from her house.Belwalkar collapses with this accuse and decides to leave his daughter;s place and move out .Mean while in travelling he losses his wife and met different people , express his grief with the help of dialogues from the theater plays which he had played .Finally his family spots him , after seeing all he refuses to comes back and delivers one of speech , which he does regularly not purposefully but due to his mental illness. After his speech he gets heart attack and he dies .
Play is broadly based on king lear , King Lear is a tragedy by William Shakespeare. The title character descends into madness after foolishly disposing of his estate between two of his three daughters based on their flattery, bringing tragic consequences for all.Video version of te play however took advance and showed monologues dream sequences.Sometime Music was too loud for the scene ,Tv usually does this trick to attract audience.The play came on stage in 70s all the elements are perfectly shown , dresses , language used according to contemporary time and it has done excellently.Philosophy told in this play is basically shakespearan philosophy based on his drams romeo-juliet , King lear ,Macbeth,Hamlet .Protagonist comapres his life with the characters of Shakespeare and recites the philosophy.However this is the story of true theater artist who wants to spend retirement with his wifeand his past experiences but unfortunately he could not let the things happens all the time and tragedy happens to him .
