Friendship Day
Every relationship including friendship is socio- political activity to survive in a society. Many people understand this but try to hide behind emotions.
It is not new to see many college going teenagers uploading their pictures with their friends but this trend has even motivated people from all age groups. So the age group which was once critical of celebration of days has been actively suppoting as well as participating (Remember right-wingers opposing "days" because they are suppose to pervert Indian culture.)
I remember, during my school days when we used to bring friendship bands (5-10 rupees depending on "cloesness" of a friend), if teacher catches us then there used to be a strict punishment. When I recently passing nearly a school, I saw teachers celebrating along with students!
Someone rightly said, first we criticize it then misuse it then follow it. Globalization bought us near with the world and Social Networks gave us opportunity to participate in it.
Many "people" who are listed as my friends in my Facebook list wished me happy friendship day. I replied them back with the same. Conversation was over. Facebook chat remained, as it was, static and ubiquitous.
P.S. Some may argue that their friendship is beyond conditions. For them, being unconditional in friendship is itself conditional.
Every word is true.. nice to read such deep insights about something as normal as friendship, about which we do not contemplate so much. Basically everything comes down to a give and take relationship in society. Friendship is no exception then.
