When we think of television serials we indians imagine absurd Indian TV serials which many times depicts the more or less same story with loud sound effects , close ups ,noisy acting.I was having this big bang theory episodes but I had not seen them , thinking that it would be same double meaning comedy but when I saw big bang theory show it baffled me and proved me 100% wrong ,show is as brilliant as scholars in this show .
This is a story of 4 scholars Sheldon , Leonard, &Howards ,Raj it would be offensive to call them geeks because after watching many seasons you will fall in love with the characters and could not call them geeks.
I wont be discussing story here , any one can find story on the wikipedia .I will be interpreting the show .First of all coming up with such kind of show in which typical comic characters wont work need courage and creativity . These four guys are scientist so dialogues are written keeping that in mind .The basic essence of a plot is how extremely brilliant people behave in society , what makes them so different from common people .We have heard stories of Isac Newtons , Einstein and many scientist how they got puzzled in common circumstances same things reflects here . Sheldon is smartest of all , who's aim of a life is to win noble prize dedicated and always worried about his health (like great picaso) , Leonard is stud amongst them all who smart enough to talk and hang out with woman , Raj is Indian who thinks he cant talk to women unless he drinks alcohol basically he is shy to talk to women and gives this excuse , Howard is wanna be to who thinks he is handsome and always trying to impress girls .The Unique selling point of a show is its difference , unlike other american shows it showed the people as they are .(in all other shows handsome people are shown protagonist unlike this one)
Bachelor life of these people shown beautifully and realistically , their crush , emotions , breakups are shown . Now sixth season is airing, over the seasons story went forward , many characters came in , Howard is married , Sheldon found his girlfriend with the help of Raj and Howard , Leonard is dating panny after having two breakups with her and one with another As story moves the friendship , bonding of these characters are shown . It is common in showing people kissing on screen in US television shows unlike Indians .
American lifestyles can be seen through this serials , bachelors living away from home finds it strange when Howard decides to stay with his mother .For Americans sex marriage is not big deal .
Penny is a girl lives girl next door to Leonard and Sheldon , who is positioned as thread between these guys intelligent world and common world .In earlier seasons ,penny was siding character over the episodes she has became the lead actress .Every character in the serial has unique personality , show makers has given enough time and episodes to develop them with meaningful scenes , characterisation is excellent .Show makers filled little details in every characters life and made audience to guess , judge the characters upon their own terms which is biggest success of the show .Camera work is nice unlike Indian in which focus is on the face , with several panning effects .This show is shot in studio with live audience to get the sound of their laughter
The show is also well marketed , it has well maintained web site , wikipedia has enough content on the show .In the show guys are shown addicted to comics , super heroes so to take advantage of this , it makets the show with help of merchandise .Indian show can learn lot from it.
