I
have joined KDMC swimming pool for monthly basis.”Savalaram maharaj” is the
name given to the swimming pool .I don’t understand why our sarkari babus and
local politician given this spiritual leaders name to the swimming pool. This swimming pool is Olympic size, facilities are comparatively good , dombivlikar
belongs to middle class and upper middle class families are the main members by
the way Dombivli Gymkhana is the costly sports club so many rich people
specially doctors are the members of that club.
KDMC
swimming pool is well maintained but the employees appointed are not so
cooperative and are interested only in giving trouble to new comers.The reason
I am telling all this because I came across one weird experience.
Week
ago I arrived in the premises of KDMC sports complex , I was parking my bike , I
saw one man arguing with the authorities I ignored that conversation and
continue my parking. I was rushing towards the pool because I was as usual late
That
man , who was busy arguing with the authority came to me and said
“excuse
me , I want to talk to you”
I
gave him amused look , thought he had the
problem with the bike parking so was asking me to remove the bike , but I
didn’t react anything on that just gave amused look.
He
continued his talk , he further said ,”hi my name is aditya , actually I have
come here to swim on hourly basis but they are not allowing me , can I come as
your guest , I will pay for myself but please let me be your guest”
I
said okay , I had bad experience with the pool authority too and I knew how
they treat new comer and like to show the world how they are the mighty
creatures of the universe.
He
was telling that he was once monthly member then he went to Canada for job and
came after 2 years .Fellow was nice guys , must be from good family.
We
were about to enter the pool building and security guard asked me , I card I showed it to him then guard moved to
other guy , my so called guest and was about to ask the same before that I said
he is my guest for today let him come. Guard moved aside and let him come. I
came to reception and singed in the members book and said ,”he is my guest for
today , take the money and let him in” receptionist ,“okay , give 50 rupees “.
I knew for this my so called guest could not get the receipt because it is not
allowed officially. Either receptionist was so fool that he couldn’t recognise
the person which he kicked out 10 minutes ago by giving reason ‘it is not
permitted ’ or he was greedy for money.
My
point is people generally don’t want to break the rules, norms but the rigid
system makes them helpless .In this case the guy was ready to pay for 1 hour
swimming but authority rejected him , same guy came with monthly member was
permitted by the authority which is too , not permitted. Indians should stop
making phenomenal complex systems which no one perfectly understands and start
making simple system which even lay man can get.

ReplyDeleteI really appreciate your effort in trying to bring the true reality of how such government organizations work here. Today I myself encountered a very bitter experience. I have also enrolled myself in KDMC gymkhana swimming pool on a monthly basis. I have been going there regularly from past six months. The pool authority are really pathetic and very unhelpful towards not only newcomers but to all those who try to raise a voice against their illogical and unethical behavior. Today the security guard at the entrance who check the i-cards before letting people in stopped me from entering. I asked the reason and he said you belong to morning batch and cannot enter evening batch. I was quiet pissed to hear this as I have been going regularly in the evening batch. I used to go in the morning batch before but I started going in the evening batch because I was unable to go in the morning due to my prior commitments. However there is no such rule as people who have renewed or joined in the morning batch cannot come in the evening batch or vice versa. This rule they have come up on their own. When I asked them then why was I allowed for so many days their response was that now it is getting more crowded so we won't allow people who have registered in the morning batch to come in the evening.
My question is who gave them this authority to come up with such ridiculous rules according to their wish. They behave like that because there is nobody to question them. If you start cross questioning them they will chuck you out of the swimming premises. Apart from that even a few life guards standing inside the swimming pool premises speak to the memebers in a very rude and humiliating way. They won't let members go into the diving pool in the evening batch for the first 15-20 min for no reason at all. The behavior of the pool authorities is very disappointing and this has to be brought to the notice of management. There are very few life guards who behave very nicely with members and also help newcomers in learning how to swim. And regarding the timings I think members should have the flexibility to come whether in the morning or in the evening as they have other commitments which cannot be avoided or adjusted in their day to day life.
My only concern is no doubt KDMC has done a great job in providing such a nice facility to the citizens living in Dombivli. But the attitude of such people just demoralize the urge and the drive to go there and take advantage of this opportunity.
Hi Ninad...I wanna learn swimming. Is KDMC swimming pool okay for learners ? Do they have trainers ? Or which other place in Dombivli is okay according to you ?
